First let me say that I hate flying - absolutely hate it! The best part (if any) is landing and feeling my feet back on solid ground. Terry on the other hand, loves the feel of the plane leaving the ground.
Anyway, we left Seattle around 9AM Sunday and arrived in Amsterdam about 8AM Monday with little sleep along the way. With a 9hr time difference this meant we'd been up for 18hrs and travelling for 15hrs when the day started in Holland. The trip from the airport was an adventure unto itself, as we got off the train at the wrong spot. Life is an adventure....right?
When we got to our hotel we were surprised to find that our room was ready so we headed up and dumped the luggage. Think we layed down to rest? You'd think - not. We had to check out the place... With airline food not being the greatest, we looked for a place to eat. We found a nice cafe where Terry had a sandwich and I had an ommelet the size of something you'd get at Beth's Cafe.
After that we headed down the street to find the world famous "Abraxas Coffee House" and had ourselves a wonderful tasting attitude adjustment. It was some of the best "coffee" I've ever had! I could live here, but thats another story...
By the the time our first day in Amsterdan ended we were both totally exhuasted, and although you can never really catch up on sleep, we were both determined to do just that.
